Paradise Valley Arizona City Tour

Despite Paradise Valley’s relatively small population of approximately 15,000 residents, the area is one of Arizona’s premier tourist destinations (with no less than twelve resorts!) and home to the most expensive residential real estate in the state.  The median price of a home in this exclusive area is $1.74 million, with many homes exceeding $5 million, and a few over $20 million.  Paradise Valley is often considered an extension of Scottsdale, an area of Phoenix with a similarly wealthy reputation.  Children that reside in Paradise Valley go to the Scottsdale Unified School District.

The Town of Paradise Valley was incorporated in May 1961 and currently encompasses an area of 16.5 square miles.  Paradise Valley is exclusively zoned for single family residential use, and the majority of the town is comprised of one acre lots with one house per lot.  No multiple housing units or common walls are permitted and any land use other than residential must be authorized by a Special Use Permit, granted after public hearing before the Planning Commission and Town Council.  Some authorized special uses are religious facilities, resorts, medical facilities, stables, golf courses or private schools.

With its breathtaking location nestled in the surrounding beauty of Camelback Mountain (with the “Praying Monk”) and Mummy Mountain, it’s not hard to see why Paradise Valley is considered a true “Garden of Eden.”
