Gold Canyon is part of Apache Junction in the East Valley of Metro Phoenix.  Apache Junction extends from Mesa on the west to past Gold Canyon to Queen Valley in the east, consisting of about 150 square miles.  Gold Canyon is considered part of the Apache Junction market area, though is technically an unincorporated part of Pinal County.  Great efforts have been made in the past several years by the residents of Gold Canyon to solidify their independent status and incorporate their town, though it has yet to be completed.

Gold Canyon Ranch was first created from a working cattle ranch nestled at the foot of the southeastern region of the majestic Superstition Mountains.  In the 1970s, Dinamount Development Corporation assembled the property, and in the 1980s, it built the Gold Canyon Resort Hotel that is home today to two of Arizona most notable golf courses – Dinosaur Mountain and Sidewinder.

Gold Canyon is still rural enough so that nature is the main attraction in the area.  But, do not be fooled into thinking that this is a cowboy town!  Over 10,000 residents live in the area and many neighborhoods offer million dollar homes, as well as million dollar views.  Wonderful hiking trails are accessible along Kings Ranch Rd. and Peralta Trail, and horseback riding is allowed throughout the area.  Quaint shops, restaurants and easy access to all of the lakes and recreation of the Superstition Mountains are easily accessible.  Gold Canyon offers a change of pace from the hectic lifestyle found in the urban areas of the Valley, but still includes all of the amenities of upscale living.
